Hurricane Beryl made landfall along the Texas coast around 4:30 a.m. as a Category 1 storm early Monday, forcing the closure of major oil ports, flight cancellations, and a warning it would be a deadly storm for communities hit.

As Hurricane Beryl moves north to bring heavy rain to parts of the Midwest, forecasters also are watching three tropical waves in the Atlantic basin.

The remnants of Hurricane Beryl, which made landfall in Texas as a Category 1 storm on Monday, will arrive in Rochester later this week.
