Earlier on Thursday, Lara Trump suggested that the former president had learned to embrace mail-in voting, a tactic pushed by Democrats in the previous election for the sake of public health. At the time, Trump heavily (and falsely) criticized the tactic as being rife with fraud.

After the immunity ruling, U.S. Representative Ilhan Omar posted on X: "The Supreme Court can no longer be trusted to uphold the Constitution. If Donald Trump is reelected, this convicted felon, rapist, and twice-impeached former President will be able to do whatever the hell he wants. It's a scary day for American democracy."

However, he does intend to blame his “opponents’” policies for fueling what he views as a “nation in decline.”
