Beryl, the first hurricane of the 2024 Atlantic season, intensified to an extremely dangerous Category 4 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 130 mph Sunday morning, as it made its way toward the Windward Islands.

After briefly dipping into Category 3 strength, Hurricane Beryl re-intensified into a Category 4 storm as it approached the Windward Islands Monday morning.

A fter intensifying into a Category 4 hurricane that forecasters deemed extremely dangerous, Hurricane Beryl began to press in on the southern Caribbean late on Sunday (June 30). As a result, officials there urged residents to seek shelter. On Monday morning, the storm was predicted to land in the Windward Islands.
